Giving Back (Past)

Humble Ceramics believes in giving back. We have been building our business slowly, one step backward, two steps forward ...  facing many MANY unexpected challenges, and have to admit our funds have been extremely limited, so we give a little here and a little there, planting seeds of giving ... trying to pick where the donation will have the most impact in the moment ...

These are organizations we have support in the past,
many we will again when we can.

At Habitat for Humanity, we build. We build because we believe that everyone, everywhere, should have a healthy, affordable place to call home. More than building homes, we build communities, we build hope and we build the opportunity for families to help themselves. Donations help families break the cycle of poverty and build long-term financial security. With an affordable, stable home, families have more to spend on food, medicine, child care, education and other essentials.

Jonathan Gold’s sudden death at 57 , mere weeks after he was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, dealt a concussive blow to Los Angeles, the international food community, his many friends and a legion of devoted readers. But it stunned and devastated his family with whom he shared so many adventures —his wife, Laurie Ochoa; their 23-year old daughter Isabel and 15 year old son Leon.  Jonathan loved being a food critic but he loved his family more, and though they are a valiant trio, his death has unmoored them in many ways, including financial.  Contributions will help them cover immediate expenses and provide for Izzy and Leon’s education.
